Dear esteemed guests,

 

The ISHMUN team and I would like to welcome you to our second annual MUN conference. We are delighted to be able to host this conference for you this year. 

 

During these turbulent times, it is vital to discuss the role of justice in creating a fair society. Justice, as defined by the United Nations, is a basic principle of the rule of law. Therefore justice is the lens through which significant and influential decisions are made, both domestically and internationally. These decisions hold the power to alter the lives of thousands, for better or for worse. As, when justice is not applied as a guiding principle, people are unable to have their voice be heard, exercise their rights, challenge discrimination or hold decision-makers accountable. Limited access to justice fosters unfairness, giving reason as to why justice and fairness are the core themes of this conference.

 

Due to the indispensability and the challenges in the application of justice in our modern world, it is crucial to discuss and evaluate current matters regarding the application of justice in order to create a fair society. As a generation that holds the power to implement justice within our legal systems, we must use justice as a guiding principle, both during this conference and in our future. 

 

For ISH’s second MUN conference, we hope to provide all delegates, MUN directors, supervisors and members of the organisation with an incredible experience at ISHMUN 2024. We hope this conference provides all with many opportunities to learn, be challenged and thereby grow from this MUN experience. We further wish to provide all attending this conference with information regarding the importance of justice and its application. We firmly believe MUN is an opportunity to develop more than just your academic ability, therefore we hope to provide you with a space to make new friends, learn about relevant topics, and most importantly enjoy your time.
